Presentation

Society demands a move towards more sustainable forms of mobility, both environmentally more efficient but also safer.

In the 21st century, Spain has positioned itself in the TOP 5 of the world’s safest countries for riders, even tough it received more than 50 million tourists and has a motorcycle vehicle fleet of more than 5 million units.

The Spanish case is recognized as an international benchmark in road safety. But we must continue working towards a zero vision objective. This will require sharing experiences and fostering learning. This is precisely why DGT and ANESDOR present VIVE LA MOTO: INTERNATIONAL ROAD SAFETY CONFERENCE

The event will take place in Barcelona and will attract world experts and policy-makers interested in road safety. Discussions will address policies and actions aiming to improve safety levels for motorcycle users. The event will take place against the background of the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety, with the support of ACEM and IMMA.

Promoters

The Directorate General for Traffic has been instrumental in improving motorcycle safety in Spain. Since the implementation of the 2008 strategic plan, the motorcyclists’ fatality rate for every 10,000 vehicles has been reduced from 1.38 to 0.78 in 2018. This substantial improvement of the situation, however, is not enough. A new and updated strategic plan will be soon presented, with innovative measures. This is one of the many experiences that will be shared with participants from other countries.

The National Association of the Two-Wheeler Sector represents more than 95% of the national motorcycle market. It brings together manufacturers of vehicles, components and accessories that work to develop increasingly safe vehicles that meet the needs of current mobility. ANESDOR promotes safe motorcycling and cooperates with a large number of organisations to achieve this objective.
